Why Artists Aren't Consistently Selling Their Art

Artists aren't consistently selling their art because no one ever taught them how to run an art business, only how to make art.

Without a clear system, defined goals, and a plan to execute against, even talented artists stay stuck in inconsistent sales, random posting, and constant guesswork about what to do next.

There is no shortage of artistic talent. What's missing for most artists isn't the work itself, it's the business infrastructure behind the work. The art world teaches technique, not strategy. Social media teaches content, not systems. And most "marketing for artists" advice online teaches what worked for one specific person in one specific marketing plan (social media), not a entire system.

The result is an artist who is working incredibly hard (posting daily, showing up at markets) but never seeing the kind of consistent, compounding momentum that turns art into a real business. Not because they're doing it wrong. Because they were never given the three things that actually drive consistent sales:

A Business System Built Around You

Not a generic template. An actual system (entry offer, email sequence, SEO, campaign structure) built around your art, your audience, and the way you actually work.

Clear, Measurable Goals

Clear, Measurable Goals

Not "sell more art." Specific, trackable goals with benchmarks, so you know exactly what success looks like for this month, this campaign, and this year.

A Planner System That Connects the Dots

A weekly plan that ties your goals to your daily actions. Not a vague content calendar, a real plan that answers "what do I do today to get closer to my goals?"

This is the gap that marketing coaching for artists is designed to fill. It's not about working harder, most artists are already working as hard as they can. It's about working with a system, a strategy, and a partner who holds the bigger picture while you focus on the work in front of you.

When an artist has all three (a system built for them, goals they can measure, and a plan they can execute) consistent sales stop being a lucky accident and start being an expected outcome.

Imagine waking up to emails of leads, prints selling, and original art sold. On top of that, you also know exactly what you are going to do that day to further your long term goals.

This is what I offer as a marketing coach for artists.

Ginger originally came through the Artist's Launch Academy pilot program and has since transitioned into 1-on-1 coaching as an extension of that work. She's an abstract artist who's been selling for about a year, primarily through social media and art shows, with a Wix website built through the Academy.

Where the coaching is focused right now: The current work is centered on launching a limited edition print bundle as her first structured product offer. Sessions have involved pricing strategy (she landed on $30 for one print, $35 for two, with packaging costs around $80 per 100 prints including shipping), figuring out the storytelling around the prints, and building a marketing campaign around the launch rather than jumping straight into posting content.

"Yes I think coaching is the best way to go! You have so much knowledge about marketing and websites and SEO and one on one is what I think a lot of artists need.

A lot of art marketers try and sell what worked for them and some of it is helpful. But we all have a unique path and not everyone can market the same! So what you're doing is very unique and it's needed!

This one on one will definitely help me more I think."
— Ginger Martinez, Abstract Artist

Ginger's progress and mindset: In her first month of coaching, Ginger identified her first product offer and built a full pricing strategy around it. She cut her posting frequency in half and said it immediately felt better, less pressure, more intention with better engagement. She started a business journal that now drives her content. And she sold a painting at her latest pop-up show.

The work isn't just about what to post. It's about building a system that fits the way you actually work and having someone in your corner who knows your business as well as you do.

Overall tone: She's enthusiastic, coachable, and implementing. The relationship is strong, she's communicating openly, asking good questions, and showing up consistently even when life gets hectic.

Hi, I'm Kasi Drummer

Search Engine Optimization Specialist, Certified Website Designer, Art Coach and Certified Project Manager

I built Built by Kasi and created the Artist's Launch Academy because I know firsthand what it feels like to be a talented artist with absolutely no idea how to market yourself.

I've worked with emerging artists across every discipline helping them go from "posting and hoping" to running real art businesses with consistent clients and steady, growing income.

My approach to marketing coaching for artists is simple: no cookie-cutter templates, no corporate jargon. We start with your goals, build your strategy, and make sure you know what to do every single day.

How art marketing coaching with Built by Kasi works?

Everything is sequenced intentionally. We don't skip steps, and we don't move forward until each piece is solid. Here's exactly what we build:

Week 1

Goal Setting & Your Entry Offer

We start where it matters: with clarity. We identify your biggest revenue opportunity right now, define your goals, and build out your first strategic product or service offer, priced correctly, positioned for your actual audience.

Week 2

Polish the Offer & Build Your Digital Assets

We tighten your offer and create the assets to support it: the copy, images, and digital materials your audience needs to say yes. No more launching with half-built materials and hoping for the best.

Week 3

Your Marketing Campaign

We build and launch a focused campaign around your entry offer: email, social, and storytelling that converts. Not a spray-and-pray approach. One intentional campaign, done right, so you can see what actually works.

Week 4

SEO Overhaul To-Do List

We audit your online presence and build a clear, prioritized SEO and GEO (AI search) action plan for the next 30 days. You'll leave with a ranked list of exactly what to fix and why so you can keep building visibility long after coaching ends.
